Advisory Services & Tutoring Available for Homeschoolers in Virginia
In order to better serve the homeschooling community in the Shenandoah Valley, Prism Learning Community now offers academic advising and tutoring services. These services will be provided by one of our all time favorite class facilitators, our new Academic Advisor, Alena Solenne. Alena will continue to offer classes (like the art class pictured above) at Prism Learning Community and has now expanded her role within the Prism Community.
Alena received her Masters Degree in Education from Antioch University, New England. She is certified in traditional public school education, Integrated Learning, and in Waldorf pedagogy. She taught in both public and private schools and has served our local homeschooling community as private tutor and teacher, having offered a wide variety of classes at several local homeschooling cooperatives.
Curriculum consultations are available for parents of homeschoolers in Virginia who are seeking guidance with supporting their child’s progress and development. During a curriculum consultation, Alena will assist the family to create an individualized educational plan based on the specific needs and interests of the child.
Assessments are also available through our academic advisory services. Alena is able to perform both qualitative and quantitative assessments. These Virginia homeschool assessments can give parents a general picture of where their child is academically and developmentally, as well as providing specific metrics.
Alena is available to tutor children or adults of any age, in most any subject, specializing in upper elementary and middle school math, emerging reading, and middle and high school writing.
