Noel Levan
Masters of Arts. Occupational Therapist (45 years), Family Mediator (11 years).
Facilitator of The Journey: A Creative Approach to the Necessary Crises of Adolescence Adolescence is (always) a tumultuous time in every life.
Noel has engaged adolescents in their struggles and issues for nearly forty years. In his role as an occupational therapist at the Psychiatric Institute of Richmond in 1988, he met David Oldfield, the creator of The Journey, and was trained as a facilitator. Since, he has engaged teens, young adults and older adults as an occupational therapist, college professor and community activist, in the search for purpose and meaning in an ever-chaotic journey toward self-awareness and personal growth. For the past ten years Noel has functioned, in the community of Harrisonburg Virginia, as a mediator at the Fairfield Center. He assists families to plan how to best meet the needs of their children; whether via court-ordered mediation of custody, visitation and child support, or via self-referral of individuals who need to have difficult, emotionally-charged conversations with family members. Noel is married, has two grown children and one grandchild. He enjoys his projects, and may be pried from his home and community to engage in worthwhile endeavors and play. He has clowned with Dr. Patch Adams and clowns from the world over, in Iquitos Peru, and has thoroughly enjoyed travels in Europe, Central America, and Canada.
